Modeling session

I had an amazing session with a very good friend of mine that allowed me to make some great images during an evening after work. It must have been our lucky day because it happened to have been the nicest day of the summer, to that point! On the local shore (Ferry Park, Rock Hall Beach), Nikki and I got started nearly right away. I pretty much stayed ‘hands off’ on this one because she had never ‘modeled’ before, so I wanted to see what she would do for the first few minutes, and to my delight and surprise, she was truly a natural in front of a camera. With very little direction, Nikki nailed her first modeling session. I am so grateful for the time Nikki has shared with me and for allowing me to make these images. Here is a small sample (of the nearly 400 images) of our session together.

10 Years Old! Happy Birthday Rufus!

Today is my brother and sister-in-law’s, dog’s 10th birthday! That was a mouthful! Our little man celebrated his 10th birthday today outside in the cool breeze of Rock Hall, MD where it was bright and sunny all day! The temperature was just perfect. Here are a couple of shots I made of Rufus, plus his ‘sister’, Chloe. I would love to hear your thoughts! I think the lighting was just perfect, so I didn’t edit these at all… yet! I did use a couple of custom presets in the camera, but has little impact on the image.

Mardi Gras and Birthday Celebration!

First and foremost, I’d like to thank Linda and her husband Philip (the “birthday boy”), for inviting me to this incredible event. Although I was there in a professional capacity as their photographer, I had a great time and met some awesome people! Also, I would like to thank Lani Seikaly, President of the Chestertown Arts League (soon to be renamed “Chestertown RiverArts” after merging with Artworks), for her confidence and presenting this opportunity. The band, oh the band… Zachery Smith and the Dixie Power Trio, AWESOME!! I loved their music and energy and had such a wonderful time, I forgot I was there in a professional capacity!

Ok, on to the ‘meat and potatoes’ of this event! I still cannot get over how much fun this Mardi Gras was… Here is a sneak peak of some of the photos I made tonight.. there is very little editing on these as I simply want to get them “live” on the web! Coming Up!

Newest photographic assignment will be tomorrow night at the “Garfield Center for the Arts at the Prince Theatre”! Saturday night, February 25, 2012.. come out and celebrate “Mardi Gras” at the Prince Theatre with you friends and family. Early in the evening we will be celebrating the “Birthday Boy’s”….. 60th Birthday!! Birthday Bash will be from about 6:00pm until about 8:00pm, at which time (roughly) our live band will start off the night, neatly lit from behind by a big screen with images of Mardi Gras…

I am really looking forward to this event and even more so, the contacts that I will make. If you live in the area, or in Maryland at all, you really should make the trip to Chestertown, MD and visit with us at the Prince Theatre and enjoy the festivities! This is just one of ‘those’ reasons why I love this area. The people are so welcoming and friendly, no matter your background or where you come from. All you have to do is say hi, and you’ll learn so much … about a lot! The people of this town LOVE to talk! I hope that I see you there tomorrow night.

I will be photographing the event from about 8pm until about 10pm, so keep an eye out (over the next couple of weeks) for many of the images from this night, popping up on the blog and Facebook.

One of my favorite nature pics from 2011

This is one of my favorite shots from this day (October 2011) of a flock of Vultures flying above my home. I saw about 15-20 of these beautiful birds circling around the trees in the back of my home and ran inside to grab my camera… I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
